Inactive Projects
Projects that the IPDA used to pursue, but no longer.
- COSPAR (approved 2007)
- Follow on of a 2006 project: continue to work on the preparation of the COSPAR involvement.
- IPDA Requirements
- Preparation of an overall IPDA requirement document, from which we can derive requirements of further projects. Its utility became clear after the completion of the Data Standard Model Requirements Project.
- Standard Data Model, Assessment of Draft
- The Standard Data Model Project delivered a use case and a requirements document as well as a draft data standard model. An independent assessment shall be executed on the draft model taking into account requirements from the IPDA Requirements Document and Minutes of Meetings from previous IPDA meetings.
- Data Dictionary Modeling
- Preparation of a draft of a data dictionary model.
- Venus Express Interoperability
- Within the U.S. involvement in the European Venus Express mission, it was agreed that data from VEX would be made available to the U.S. scientists via the PDS Atmosphere Node using the interoperability concept. The Atmosphere Node web server is actually providing datasets to the users via a http based interface. FTP access to data is not the standard. The idea is to offer users of the Atmosphere Node www server a fully transparent access to all VEX data.
- Small Bodies Interoperability Demonstrator
- An interoperability capability was demonstrated between NASA/PDS and ESA/PSA. This project will extend the scope of the interoperability to JAXA/DARTS. The project shall consists of a simple user interface that connects to all three databases, queries them, lists the results and allows the direct download of the data sets (first step) and the data products (second step) returned from the individual data archive repositories. The project should restrict itself to the targets from the International Halley Mission.
- Interoperability: Query Model
- Definition of the requirements for IPDA queries.
- PDAP, Assessment of Draft Protocol
- Assess the Draft Protocol in terms of how it meets the IPDA requirements; develop a set of PDAP protocol requirements based on this assessment and the lessons learned from the development of the PDAP interoperability prototype.
- Charter (approved 2006)
- The Charter project defines and refines the charter of the IPDA.
- Project Formation (approved 2006)
- The Project Formation project focuses on formation of IPDA projects.
- Website (approved 2006)
- The website project develops the website you're viewing right now.
- Banner/Logo (approved 2007)
- After an unsuccessful logo competition, the Steering Committee proposed to decide on an IPDA banner and on an IPDA Logo. The project should start from the most promising proposals, modify them and deliver one proposal for the banner and one for the logo. An example www page and an example letter head shall be presented.
- Steering Committee (approved 2006)
- A task force towards recruiting steering committee members.
- Data Access (approved 2006)
- The Data Access and Prototype Working Group is a project of the IPDA that develops specifications and prototype implementations for the exchange of planetary data.
- Archive Standards (approved 2006)
- The goal of the Archive Standards project is to improve global access to and exchange of high quality planetary science data products across international boundaries by defining standards for planetary science archives
